    Outing to Shrewsbury Flower Show

After a week of unsettled weather (to say the least!) we left Marple in the sunshine for our day in Shrewsbury

Our driver made good time and we arrived at 11am – still in the sunshine!  After a quick coffee we walked

round  the perimeter of the show – first with the show jumping and then on to the stalls.  We managed to make

a few purchases on the way to the bandstand for our picnic and to listen to the Royal Artillery band’s full

programme. The marquis’s were the next on the list but, once inside, the heat was overpowering although we

did manage to see some beautiful floral arrangements as well as the cookery demonstration by Rosemary

Shrages. Next it was back to the arena to catch the end of the Bold-dog motor cyclists, the Mersey male voice

choir, Fiona Pears (a new Zealand violinist) and part of the performance of Haley Westerner. All too soon it was

time to leave –  a jolly good day.

    Thank you to the organisers.
